About Us
Mike Prince (from the UK) and Rob Evans (in Canada) have between them spent 80 years in the broadcast TV sector. Having worked together in the past and spent time in each other’s homes on both sides of the pond, they enjoyed their regular Zoom calls during the lockdowns when they reminisced about old times.
Mike Prince grew up in Britain’s Motor City: “I was born in Birmingham which was a major centre for manufacturing cars and trucks. Many of my childhood friends had parents who worked in the motor industry, so talking and dreaming about cars was in our blood. I was fascinated about the amazing designs and the bright colours of automobiles made in the USA. As a 10 year old, I’d read magazines and fantasize about owning a Buick, Chrysler or Packard. To this day I enjoy spotting interesting cars and wondering about the places they’ve been driven to and the stories about their owners”.
Rob picks up the story: “My father was born in Britain and he often talked about the pre-war automobiles he remembered as a child. Hillmans, Austins, Rovers and some makes and models that never made it to North America. In our Zoom calls, Mike and I often swapped stories about ‘all our yesterdays’ and in one conversation we suddenly recognised that both of us used cars as a key part of remembering the defining moments of our social history”.
